Story maps for wedding venues
Guests arrive an hour early with nothing to do and grounds they have never seen. A story map turns that hour into the part they tell people about.
A guest scans a code on the order of service, or on a card at the table, and your grounds open on their phone: where they can walk, how far it is, and what happened at the places they pass. There is no app and no sign-up. The same code works for a couple at a Tuesday viewing, and your staff change what it says without asking us.

The couple who have not booked
A viewing is forty minutes, and the grounds are half the reason anyone chooses you. A couple deciding between three venues remembers the one they walked. A map they can walk at their own pace goes on making the case after they have driven home, and it can be sent to whoever is actually paying for the wedding.
The guests, on the day
They arrive an hour early, because everyone does, and stand about in the car park. Nobody has told them they are allowed to walk anywhere, so they don't. Meanwhile your staff spend the afternoon answering the same three questions: where can we take photographs, how far is the lake, is there anywhere to sit. On the map those are answered once and answered every time.
How it compares with what you have now
| Option | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| A welcome sign with a site plan | One-off cost, always there | A plan is not a reason to walk anywhere |
| Printed cards on the tables | Feels considered, matches the stationery | Reprinted per wedding, and nobody keeps them |
| A member of staff showing people round | Personal and impressive | Impossible on the day; your staff are running a wedding |
| A page on your website | Free, already exists | Nobody opens a website while standing in a marquee |
| A Bramble story map | One QR code that works for viewings and for the day, updated by you | Needs a phone, and it is another thing to put on the signage |
Questions
Can we use the same map for viewings and for the wedding day?
Yes, and we would expect you to. It is one map with one QR code. Couples viewing it get the same walk your guests get.
Can we put our own branding on it?
On the self-managed subscription the map carries your name, your colours and your fonts, and no mention of Bramble anywhere on it.
Can we embed it in our own website?
Yes. The map can sit inside a page on your site, so a couple browsing venues can walk your grounds without leaving it.
What about guests with no data allowance?
GPS needs no signal and the map's text is saved to the phone after the first load. Photographs need signal when they first appear, so a QR code somewhere with decent coverage, like the entrance, is the practical answer.
How long does it take us to set up?
Most of it is writing rather than walking. Every stop can be placed at a desk by clicking the map, so the whole thing can be done indoors. Walking the grounds with a phone is the accurate way to pin something a map cannot show you, like one particular tree. The one unaided build we have measured was a community organiser with twenty-two stops, who entered nearly all of them in one evening and finished the next, though those stops needed very little text. A venue writing fifteen proper stories will take longer than that.
What it costs
Put it beside what you already spend to be chosen: the listings, the open days, the brochure that gets reprinted when the photographs date. One published map, written by your own team, is £1,500 a year, or £150 a month, plus VAT. You know what one booking is worth to you, so you can finish that sum without us. If the walk tips one couple in a year, the map has paid for itself.
It is one map and one code, so the cost sits across two budgets rather than one. The events team sends the link after a viewing; the same code goes on the order of service. Nothing is written twice. The stops are placed from a desk, and most of the job is deciding what to say about the lake. What writing it involves.
If you would rather have the photographs and narration done to the standard of the brochure, we walk the grounds and build it: from £5,000 plus VAT, then about £4,500 a year, quoted before we start. A done-for-you build has no money-back guarantee.
The self-managed subscription starts with thirty days free at portal.bramblemaps.com/start: no card, about a minute to set up, and live from the first minute. It is blank when you open it, and we do not put sample stops in to make it look further along than it is. Thirty days is long enough to send it to a couple after a viewing and put it in front of guests at a real wedding before you pay anything. If the month ends and you have done nothing, the map goes quiet with everything you wrote kept, and we email you before that happens; the one thing a trial does not hold is the web address, so keep the code off the printed stationery until you have subscribed. Subscribe, and you have a further thirty days from the first payment to change your mind and have it all refunded. That is on the self-managed subscription only, not the done-for-you build. Full pricing.
